Spring Weeks 2027: What They Are and When They Open
What a spring week is, who can apply, and when 2027 spring weeks and insight days open and close across finance, tech, law and consulting.
A spring week is a short insight programme, from a single day to a week, that employers run for first-year university students, usually in the spring term. You spend it at the firm learning how its divisions work, and many firms use it to find next year's summer interns. For 2027, LucidTrack's job board has recorded 66 spring weeks and insight events at 37 UK employers so far, with deadlines running from September 2026 to April 2027.
For the ones open right now, the finance spring week tracker and the other sector trackers below list every live programme with its deadline, updated within minutes of a new one going live.
What is a spring week?
A spring week, also called a spring insight programme, insight week or first-year insight day, is an employer's introduction for students early in their degree. Despite the name, many are shorter than a week: this cycle's programmes range from one-day insight days and open days to two- and three-day schemes and full insight weeks.
They are best known in investment banking, where banks such as J.P. Morgan, UBS and Standard Chartered run them every year, but quant trading firms, law firms, consultancies and engineering employers run them too.
Who can apply for a spring week?
Spring weeks are mostly for first-year undergraduates, and for second-years on a four-year course. Some law firms run separate open days for penultimate-year and non-law students. Each employer sets its own eligibility, so check the posting before you apply.
Why spring weeks matter
Many firms use their spring week to find their next summer interns, so a strong spring week can shortcut the summer internship process (see when finance summer internships open). Even where it doesn't, it gives you a firm to talk about with real knowledge in later applications, and it is often the first competitive application a student makes, so it is good practice for online tests and video interviews.
When do spring weeks open?
In finance, the first 2027 spring weeks opened in late May 2026, at GSA Capital, and BlackRock followed in June, but most of the market opened between mid-September and the end of October 2026. Our finance spring weeks 2027 post has every opening month and deadline.
Law firms open their first-year insight days later in the autumn and keep them open longer, with many deadlines in the new year. For vacation schemes, the next step, see law vacation scheme deadlines.

How to get a spring week
Apply as soon as a programme opens. GSA Capital, J.P. Morgan, Evercore and Marsh McLennan all reviewed applications on a rolling basis this cycle, and rolling programmes can fill before their deadline.
Have your CV ready before term starts. Most finance spring weeks open within weeks of you arriving at university, so the students who do well aren't writing their first CV the week J.P. Morgan opens.
Prepare for the online test and video interview. Many spring week applications include numerical or situational judgement tests and a recorded video interview. See our guide to HireVue interviews.
Apply widely. Spring weeks are competitive, and every firm runs its own process, so apply to more than one sector if you are unsure where you fit.
