Job Title: Graduate Submarines Operations

Location: Barrow (Cumbria) We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – however for this role you will be expected to attend your site 5 days per week.

Salary:  £34,000 Per Annum + £2,000 Welcome Bonus

Role Description 

As the largest function within the business, Manufacturing plays a vital role in delivering the product, from manufacture through to integration and testing and commissioning. You will undertake a substantive role, taking ownership of key deliverables and activities from the outset, making a direct contribution to the delivery of complex engineering programmes. With exposure across a broad range of manufacturing activities and business functions, you will work alongside experienced professionals to gain valuable hands-on experience, develop your technical and leadership capabilities, and build a strong foundation for future management and leadership opportunities within the organisation.

Core Duties 

  • Supporting Senior Build Managers in the construction / build of a particular section / unit of submarine.
  • Providing data-driven insights into manufacturing / production.
  • Supporting in the production of clear and structured departmental documentation.
  • Leading continuous improvement / problem solving to drive efficiencies.
  • Working collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication, manage dependencies, and deliver projects safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.

The Submarines Team

Be a part of designing, building, testing, and commissioning the Astute and Dreadnought Class, the largest and most advanced submarines operated by the Royal Navy, providing a powerful and secure deterrent for the United Kingdom.

Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.

Qualification requirements

As a minimum requirement you must have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in the following subjects: Any STEM subject.
