Location: Barrow (Cumbria). We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – however for this role you will be expected to attend your site 3-5 days per week.

Salary: £34,000 Per Annum + £2,000 Welcome Bonus

Role description 

As a Graduate Submarines Nuclear Test and Commissioning Engineer, you will play a vital role in bringing some of the UK’s most advanced submarine systems into operational service. Working at the interface of design, build and operations, you will help ensure that complex systems meet stringent safety, quality and performance requirements before deployment. You will gain experience across the commissioning lifecycle, supporting the verification, testing and acceptance of critical equipment and systems. Through collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, you will develop technical expertise in nuclear submarine engineering while contributing to the safe and effective delivery of nationally important defence programmes.

Core duties 

  • Verify that systems have been installed to the required quality, workmanship and engineering standards.
  • Inspect installations for defects and confirm that commissioning requirements have been incorporated correctly.
  • Conduct system walkdowns to ensure compliance with installation documentation, specifications and design requirements.
  • Perform testing and commissioning activities to demonstrate system functionality, performance and readiness for operation.
  • Apply electromechanical isolations and manage stored energy sources to establish and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Record test results, support fault investigation and resolution activities, and contribute to system acceptance and handover documentation.

Qualification requirements

As a minimum requirement you must have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in the following subjects: Engineering or STEM related discipline
