Job title: Graduate Submarines Radiation Physics and Shielding Engineer Location: Barrow (Cumbria). Role description Within the Radiation Physics and Shielding function, you will support the design and development of radiation shielding systems that meet submarine build requirements and help protect personnel. The role involves analysing data to support system approval, contributing to design optimisation activities, and assessing the impact of proposed design changes on the effectiveness of radiation shielding systems. You will provide technical advice and guidance to a range of stakeholders, produce radiological safety justifications for proposed design solutions, and develop computational models and code, including PIC and Monte Carlo methods, to support the design, analysis, and verification of radiation shielding technologies. As a minimum requirement you must have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in the following subjects: Physics, Nuclear Technology or Maths. |
