Job Title: Graduate Submarines Test and Commissioning Engineer

Location: Barrow (Cumbria). We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – however for this role you will be expected to attend your site 5 days per week.

Salary: £34,000 Per Annum + £2,000 Welcome Bonus

Role description

Within the Test and Commissioning function, you will support the verification, testing, and commissioning of submarine systems to ensure they meet required quality, safety, and performance standards. The role involves working closely with Operations build teams to confirm systems have been installed to the appropriate workmanship standards and conducting system walk downs to verify compliance with installation documentation.

Core duties

  • Supporting with the inspection, testing, and commissioning of systems/equipment.
  • Commission systems by testing functionality at both equipment and system level, including flushing, pressurising and energising plant, assessing performance and identify defects.
  • You will support safe working practices by applying plant isolations and removing stored energy from systems.
  • Highlighting non-conformance of systems/equipment and reporting clearly and concisely to the other areas of the business.
  • Author, Review, and complete Test Documentation in accordance with Engineering Standards, Defence Standards, Health and Safety.
  • Develop yourself with support through the commissioning curriculum and demonstrate an understanding of your knowledge by completing the T&C task book.

Qualification requirements

As a minimum requirement you must have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in the following subjects: Computer Systems Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering.
