Job title: Summer Intern Naval Ships Systems Engineer

Location: Scotstoun (Glasgow) We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – however for this role you will be expected to attend your site 3-4 days per week.

Salary: £25,900 pro rata

End Date: 10th September 2027

Role description 

• Supporting the development of strategies to ensure that systems are designed and integrated so that they fully satisfy the customer and business needs/requirements.
• Capturing and analysing requirements in order to understand the customer/business needs and the context in which the system will be used.
• Supporting the design and optimisation of system architectures and solutions using system modelling techniques.
• Facilitating successful integration of systems and sub-systems.
• Identifying and managing interfaces, dependencies and failures modes.
• Determining the emergent properties of a system to support trade-offs, optimisation, risk reduction and testing.

The Naval Ships Team  

We design and build offshore patrol vessels, giant aircraft carrier and provide complex warships including the Type 26 Frigate to the Royal Navy, giving the customer capability to fulfil operations around the world.

All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
 

Qualification requirements

As a minimum requirement you’ll need to be on track to obtain, a 2:2 Bachelor’s degree or a pass at Master’s level in the following subjects: in any STEM related subject.

Length of contract: 12 weeks
